How many times have you felt overwhelmed, struggling to decide what to do next? We all face this at some point, especially when dealing with conflicts in our most important relationships.
Our life experiences shape how we respond to challenges, often relying on old behaviours that may no longer serve us. This can make us feel incapable of resolving our difficulties. Through my own profound and difficult challenges, I have personally found that strength comes to us when we least expect it and we are stronger and more capable than we believe we are. With the right support and skills, we can create meaningful change in our lives and relationships. The support of a non-judgemental therapist who understands life’s challenges can make a world of difference.
My own journey to becoming a psychotherapist was filled with detours, steep hills, and revelatory moments. COVID-19 was my wake-up call to return to school and work toward positive change. I’ve learned that strength often comes when we least expect it, and with the right support, we can create meaningful change in our lives and relationships. As a therapist, my goal is to offer a non-judgmental space where clients can rest, reflect, and find the purpose needed to thrive—not just survive. It’s the most rewarding work I’ve ever done.
Work With Me
I am a mature therapist whose approach is client-centred, eclectic, pragmatic, strength-based and compassionate.
As a wife and mother of two adult children, I understand the challenges of raising a family and maintaining a deep connection with a partner. My personal experiences have provided me with valuable insights into the complexities of family life and relationships. I am dedicated to helping couples connect and support each other through life's inevitable stressors and changes, benefiting both partners and their families.
I believe it is important to have a strong therapeutic relationship in order to:
Fully understand my client’s struggles, especially those related to neurodivergence
Explore experiences that have shaped their perspectives and behaviours in relationships
Encourage self-acceptance and authenticity
Validate and honour a client’s trauma and emotional experiences
Provide strategies and skills to enhance emotional regulation, communication, connection and agency
Identify sources of strength and resilience in clients that they can draw upon
What to Expect in Therapy:
I am a curious, enthusiastic, compassionate and supportive therapist. I believe it is a privilege to meet and work with clients as they strive to grow and improve their lives and relationships by developing insight into their emotions, thoughts and behaviours. As a client, your goals and needs determine the focus of treatment as I support and assist in this journey.
We will collaborate to identify what is causing difficulty and how this is affecting you emotionally, socially, relationally and physically. By understanding not only what we think and feel but why and developing effective strategies to manage our emotional and physical states, we can become more resilient and successful in navigating life’s challenges.
Professional Background
Being a very caring and empathetic person, becoming a therapist has been a lifelong dream. My desire to support others and provide hope that things can get better stems from my childhood struggles with trauma, as well as my own family’s struggles with depression, anxiety and ADHD.
I began my journey with an undergraduate degree in Psychology, only to detour and pursue my MBA and a corporate career. Despite a rewarding career, I returned to pursue my dream of becoming a therapist as the world struggled with our new COVID-19 reality. It was then I enrolled to complete my Masters in Counselling Psychology. I have found my work as a mature therapist allows me to combine both my education and real-world life experience as a parent and partner and informs my work with clients every day. I understand how our various roles, responsibilities and relationships can profoundly shape us.
Beyond the Couch
As an individual who enjoys being creative, I spend my free time (if I have any) through art, whether that’s playing guitar, painting or drawing. I am touched by the joy and beauty of animals and children who are often subjects of my art.
I also use yoga to relax and process stress. Don’t be surprised if I recommend this to you as it really helps with improving self-awareness, emotional regulation and finding a sense of calm.
