Are you tired of having the same hurtful conversations with your loved ones?
I’m Divleen, a Registered Psychotherapist, First generation Indo-canadian immigrant, wife & mom. Over the past 10 years I have supported individuals, couples, and families to help them through life’s tough moments. We all face challenges, and it’s okay to need support.
I’m excited to share a little about myself and my background. I am a first-generation immigrant, originally from India, who moved to Canada with my husband. Today, I’m a proud mother to a vibrant one-and-a-half-year-old baby.
Moving to a new country was a big change, and it impacted me emotionally, physically, and in my relationship with my partner. Adjusting to a new culture, finding my place, and building a life here wasn’t always easy.
These experiences taught me resilience and the importance of connection, which I now bring into my work as a therapist. I support individuals and couples navigating similar transitions, helping them feel understood and empowered to face these challenges.
I have a special place in my heart for supporting new moms who are navigating the challenges of finding balance in their new identity. As a mom myself, I’ve faced the struggles of juggling parenthood, self-care, and nurturing my relationship. To all the mammas out there: I see you. I’m here to hold space for you as you move through this transformative stage of life.
Work With Me
I am a client centred therapist so, YOUR WAY IS MY WAY. I feel most comfortable with my clients when they are feeling likewise. My training and expertise is only to facilitate the direction of your thoughts and feelings and not to change you as a person.
I use a blend of Emotion-Focused Therapy (EFT) and Mindfulness-Based Therapy to help individuals and couples navigate their emotions and relationships. EFT provides a structured approach to understanding the deep emotional bonds that make us human, while mindfulness encourages being present and aware of our thoughts and feelings.
In our sessions together, you would experience me as:
Holding space for your vulnerability as you explore difficult parts of yourself in relation to self & other
Facilitate the direction of your thoughts & feelings
Help you own your emotions & empower you on your journey
help couples improve communication by understanding why a partner speaks or reacts a certain way.
What to Expect in Therapy:
Therapy with me begins with a free 15-minute consultation to see if we’re a good fit. Sessions start with an informal, in-depth assessment of your concerns, in a safe and non-judgmental space where you can open up at your own pace. Together, we’ll explore emotional awareness and set goals that feel meaningful to you.
As a client-centered therapist, I’ll provide gentle guidance to ensure our time feels valuable and worthwhile. My aim is for you to leave each session feeling heard, relaxed, and supported on your journey toward self-growth and mindfulness.
Professional Background
My interest in psychotherapy comes from my own struggles with conflict in close relationships when I was younger. Understanding and managing those emotions made me curious about how we feel and connect. Studying Developmental Psychology at the University of Toronto helped me understand how we grow socially, emotionally, and mentally.
My training in Emotion-Focused Therapy deepened my appreciation for the power of emotions in our well-being and relationships. I love learning and continue to grow my skills with advanced training to better help others.
